IAB SA Content Creator Charter
The Interactive Advertising Bureau South Africa, in collaboration with the Advertising Regulatory Board, published the South African Content Creator Charter to set ethical, transparent standards for the creator economy. influencer.co.za surfaces Charter commitments as a public badge. New creators are expected to follow it from the first paid post — buying followers is how a 2,000-person audience becomes worthless.
- 1.Professional and respectful conduct between marketers and creators.
- 2.Transparency and clear disclosure of paid relationships (#ad, #sponsored, #partner).
- 3.Compliance with Advertising Regulatory Board (ARB) guidelines.
- 4.No misleading or false claims; honest engagement with audience questions.
- 5.Respect for privacy (POPIA alignment).
- 6.Do not buy followers, views or engagements, or join engagement pods — grow organically.
How we incorporate it
- Optional Charter badge on creator profiles — useful from the first paid post, not only once you are big.
- Onboarding education and resource-centre copy.
- Disclosure reminders inside pitching and contracting flows.
- Buying followers or joining pods violates both platform rules and the Charter.
- Agencies can filter Discover for Charter-committed creators.
The Charter is a living industry document. Confirm the current text with IAB SA before treating this page as legal advice.
